| helping to push the wheelbarrow |
A few weeks ago Finlay convinced Greg it was time to build the sandbox and by doing this has changed our lives forever... it's fantastic. It sits beside the barn where it is shaded until the late afternoon and it is directly in view from the kitchen. I can hear him chattering away as he makes up stories and builds and destroys villages, "swim ditches", houses and miles and miles of roads. He usually heads out there shortly after breakfast and will go back out most nights after dinner when he can drag his dad with him too.

| the sand arrives! |
As the days get colder I'm sure it will be less inviting, but for this past month it has provided the space he needed to be creative and independent and has allowed me the room to breathe and afford him his independence one baby step at a time. As Max moves toward crawling and climbing he heads for this magical place every time he is put down outside. By spring they'll be destoying swim ditches together. (As a preview today Finlay built towers for Max to destroy... this was also quite sweet... as long as it's on his terms, he can be pretty kind to the little dude).
