After...

Danika, Nate and Finlay gorge on Max's birthday cake...
And then there were four... Maxwell Murphy Toner came into the world almost a pound and a half lighter than his big brother at 8:53am March 13.  After 3 weeks we are pretty sure he is weighing in along the same lines as our first fighter... official weigh in on Monday.  He's hungry anyways... and fitting into 6 month sleepers (length-wise anyways)

In the days following Max's birth we had visits from all sides of the family and Finlay and Max were showered in gifts.  Life has since slowed down (picked up??) and we are getting out fairly regularly and waiting patiently (impatiently??) for the weather to fully become spring-like.

My boys.
Max not only eats like a champion, but tends to sleep a little better than his older brother did at this age.  I attribute a certain amount of this to my own much more relaxed attitude about when and where he sleeps... my chilling out seems to be allowing him to be a bunch more chilled out.  I'm not as worried about what all the advice books/people have to offer about sleeping, etc this time around... if there's one thing I have learned it's that no one really knows anything... except maybe the baby... and often it's hard to get it out of them.

Baby hugs
My sister Jacoba, along with 2 fabulous friends Cait and Jammie gave us an Ergo carrier... This simple invention allows me 2 hands to cook, tidy, lug a toddler around etc... while the baby sleeps in a womb-like embrace... big shout out to the Ergo and to the lovely team responsible for bringing it into my life. (along with a fabulous meal and a lovely visit this past weekend...) love love.
Big and Little
Finlay struggles a little with wanting to still be the baby and being proud of being the bigger, older brother.  He is generally sweet and helpful, but his needs as mentioned are more complex and thus I often find myself worried about the amount of attention the little is getting.  While Max isn't complaining as long as the food keeps coming and he can be jostled after a meal, I can't help thinking about how much individual attention Finlay received as a baby.  We are thus enrolling Finlay in the Almonte Cooperative Nursery School this coming week on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. He's excited and I am excited.

Alright, here are a few more picks from the first 2 weeks... I'll post again after the Midwife appointment on Monday to let you know how much this little man has grown.
